Does a gas fireplace really need cleaning?
Yes. Dust and soot collect on the logs, burner and glass, and debris can block the pilot and venting. A yearly cleaning and safety check keeps the unit burning cleanly and safely.
When does a gas valve need to be replaced?
A gas valve should be replaced when it sticks, leaks, will not fully shut off, or no longer controls the flame reliably. A faulty valve is a safety issue, so we replace it rather than patch it.
Why will my pilot light not stay lit?
The usual causes are a dirty or failing thermocouple, a clogged pilot orifice or a draft. We clean and test the pilot assembly and replace the part that is failing.
Why is there soot on my gas fireplace glass?
Sooting usually means the flame is not getting the right air-to-gas mix, often from dirty burner ports or misplaced logs. We clean and adjust the burner so it burns clean.
Do gas fireplaces need the chimney inspected?
Yes. The venting still has to carry combustion byproducts out of the home. We inspect the vent or flue for blockages and proper draft as part of the service.
I smell gas near my fireplace. What should I do?
If you smell gas, do not operate switches or flames, leave the home and call your gas utility or 911 from outside. Once it is safe, call us to service the unit.
